3 Ways To End Your Sadness After A Breakup

By Karli Ralston

Do you find yourself sitting around your house sad and upset about your breakup? You wish that you could simply snap out of it but your heart is broken. All you can think about is your ex. All you want is to hear their voice, see their smile and know that they love you again.

Your sad mood and depression is actually a huge stumbling block when it comes to reuniting with your ex. You might think that your ex would be touched and humbled if they knew how upset and sad you were without them but the opposite is true. People tend to avoid others who are depressed or emotionally upset. Even though it is completely understandable that you might be a little sad in the wake of your breakup, it is far too easy to let this emotion dominate your mood. Depression is a slippery slope and one that is very difficult to avoid once you allow it to take hold of you. If you have a desire to get back together with your ex then you should work to avoid being depressed and focus on improving your mood.

If you want to improve your mood quickly, try some laughter therapy. Laughing can help you to feel better about life even if you are laughing about something external to you and your life. Funny movies or visiting a comedy club might be in order if you look in the mirror and have a difficult time smiling. If you just don't want to go out in public, which is common when you're depressed, rent a few good movies, curl up on the couch with some good comfort food and prepare yourself for a night of laughter. Search for some funny videos online and take your mind off of your troubles.

A little exercise might be helpful to you also. You don't have to become an exercise fanatic or spend hours at the gym to reap the benefits of exercise. Going for a walk or riding a bike is often enough to take your mind off of your troubles and improve your mood. When we exercise, our body releases mood enhancing chemicals that have been shown to help us to feel better about life. As an added benefit, you will be improving your overall physical health and you will be getting out of the house. Sometimes a little change of scenery can help improve your mood also.

Lastly, work on your self-esteem and your self-confidence. Start doing things that make you feel good. Read up on psychology and work through any problems or baggage that you may be carrying around. All of us are pretty damaged emotionally and we could all use some help in this department. Learning more about relationships, why things go wrong and what you can do to avoid problems in the future is a good use of your time. Watching motivational videos is a little trick that I use when I'm feeling down and you should too. You don't have to do much. You just have to sit there and soak it all in. You should feel good about yourself. After all, how is someone else supposed to love you if you think that you're a piece of garbage?

Going through a breakup and pulling yourself back together can be one of the most difficult things that you will have to go through in your life. The pain, rejection and loneliness can be overwhelming. Everybody goes through these emotions but you don't have to dwell upon these feelings for weeks or months. Your success in being happy again and attracting your ex back are hinging upon your ability to pull yourself back together again. You will have good days and bad days but by being active in your healing, you can shorten the time it will take to heal. By focusing on feeling better about yourself and your life you can actually shorten the amount of time it is going to take to reunite with your ex. Focus on yourself right now and rebuilding your life into something that your ex will find attractive. Be happy and your ex will be more likely to be happy to spend time with you in the near future.
