The number of people who use social networks in South Africa is very high and this number is increasing yearly. This is because many individuals can access and know how to use the internet. Through the social media, persons chat with people from all over, send photos to their friends and family wherever, share their ideas with people, find work among other numerous things that have been made possible.

There are numerous social media in South Africa where people communicate. Most of them are free to sign up while a few require users to pay some fee before joining the network. Using the media is very easy and it starts by one creating an account using wither an email or telephone number and creating a password to get into the account. This is just the basic requirement to join these media as each specific platform may have its specifications.

A computer connected to the internet or mobile phones are the devices through which persons access their accounts on the platforms. There are however particular platforms in SA that can only to be accessed using the mobile phone. Such only require a user to join using his phone number and is able to chat easily for free with other individuals on his phone book.

Of course these platforms accessible over the phones do require the individual to have a telephone that has certain internet software. Therefore not all phones can access the systems. There are also specific media that can only be accessed if the user has a specific mobile brand. This kind of platform is also very popular among people in South Africa.

Many people know that just the many functions of these media, but not all of them are aware that one can find employment through this means. There is a certain platform widely used in South Africa by professionals or people looking for jobs to link with other personnel in the same career path all over the world. Job advertisements are usually placed in the network and one can easily apply as a member.

Another great benefit of the platforms is entrepreneurial people have find them a great avenue to advertise their businesses. They do this by posting their goods and services on the systems. They then urge friends to share it among their friends and soon one is able to get a wide base of clients than he would normally have.

Even though these platforms have really succeeded in making the world a global village, it has brought about certain challenges. Some of these issues include; security challenges where people have been kidnapped through meeting new people they met on these systems, loss of cash through a fake cause among other myriad of challenges. But measures have been take to ensure people stay safe and are not duped. This includes avoiding posting a lot of personal information with people one does not know, parental guidance among other precautions.

In conclusion, social networks in South Africa have really helped in opening up the country to the world. This proves the saying that the world is becoming a global village. However, safety while on the social media should not be forgotten while people share information, pictures, meet new friends, chat and help other people in need.
